Canada Day Spent on top of Mount Seymour

Happy Canada Day everyone!

This has to be the most memorable Canada Day for me thus far. I had a wonderful opportunity to work in my favourite thing, hiking, in with a Canada Day celebration.

I generally go hiking on Canada Day every year, but this year I was treated with the opportunity to join hundreds of other hikers on an epic sunrise hike up Mount Seymour.

#ChasingSunrise was an organized event in Vancouver for hiking enthusiasts to gather atop of Mount Seymour to celebrate Canada Day with the rising of the sun.

With my alarm set for 2am, I headed off to Mount Seymour to meet with other hikers. The hike began at 3:30 am sharp, and we began our 1.5 hour hike to the first peak on Mount Seymour. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of people that turned out for such an early morning hike.

It took us about 1.5 hours to reach the first peak, joining hundreds of people already at the top, we proudly waved our Canada Day flags as we sat waiting for the sun to rise. Shortly after 5 am the sun began to rise, following by hundreds of people singing the national anthem of Canada. What a way to celebrate Canada Day!

Here's a short video of the days event:
