A Weekend in Las Vegas

I continue to be amazed at the amount of people I run into who've never been to Las Vegas before. I guess because we live on the west coast it's easy enough to get to, and with flights as cheap as $80 round trip, why wouldn't we go, we've even road tripped to Las Vegas before!

This past week, we came across a Vegas travel deal for $180/person with flight and hotel. This deal was too good not to pass up.

The thing with Vegas is, there are nice/expensive hotels, then there are cheap hotels located right in the middle of the strip. We chose to stay at the Imperial Palace as it was one of the cheaper hotels, but was so central. I'm also a really big fan of Fat Tuesday's, and it was conveniently located in our hotel lobby. Hash House a Go Go was also in our hotel. They have awesome food, with large portions, but they are quite busy so there are long waits.

I've been to Las Vegas several times before, walked the entire strip, and even visited Fremont street, but surprisingly I've never been to a Las Vegas show before.

Last week, I left the road trip crew at home and travelled down to Las Vegas with my boyfriend for some downtime. As much as I love road tripping, somethings it's nice to be in the same place for a few days.

Here is a little overview of our recent Las Vegas trip:

We had a choice of seeing Cirque du Soleil or the Blue Man group. We chose to go to the Blue Man group and had a great time!

We've seen most of the popular hotels before on previous trips, so we chose to wander down to the Mandalay Bay. It's a beautiful hotel, but so far down the strip that we never go. We spent the afternoon in the Shark Reef. It was a really cool experience.

We signed up for the Price is Right, hosted by Joey Fatone. We were never called up to play, but it was still a fun experience.

The Imperial Palace is a very dumpy hotel! We felt very unclean sleeping in the bed :( and I wouldn't recommend staying their, solely because it felt very unclean.

We also spent quite a bit of time in the MGM, the Bellagio, the Paris, and New York New York. The Paris buffet was really good, and reasonably priced. There is also a very delicious pizza place just around the corner from the Paris buffet. We found the buffet at the Excalibur and the Luxor to be very greasy and flavourless.
